Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sarah Allen officiating. Interment will be in the West Union Memorial Park.

Cathryn Darlene Guido Bode, 78, of Clarksburg passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Clarksburg on July 29, 1947, a daughter of the late Dominick Eugene and Rose Marie Marano Guido.

She is survived by her husband, Harlin Dale Bode of Clarksburg; four children, Steve Swiger and his wife Tina of Clarksburg, Penny Kniceley of Ohio, Tammy Grindstaff and her husband Larry of Ohio and Jimmy Bode of Ohio; several grandchildren including Cameron Swiger and his companion Kira Knight, Cole Swiger and Samantha Tucker and her husband Andrew; one sister, Mary Jo Rutherford and her husband Ray of Fairmont; one brother, Ben Guido and his wife Sue of Morgantown; one sister-in-law, Beth Agolio of Clarksburg; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion. Piper.

Mrs. Bode was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Fairmont State College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in teaching, and earned her Master’s degree from WVU. She taught school at Mt. Clare Grade School, Lost Creek Grade School, and North View Elementary School, having retired with over 40 years of service.

Mrs. Bode was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed attending the North View United Methodist Church with her family. She enjoyed the ourdoors and loved to walk the VA trail.

Cathryn was a gentle, kind person, always telling anyone she was with “I love you”. Prior to her illness, she rode four wheelers with her family and had a great passion for food! She loved the beach and enjoyed taking walks. But above all, Cathryn loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
