Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm with Reverend Robert King and Reverend George Bramble officiating. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Grimes will be cremated with private inurnment to follow in the Fellowsville Cemetery.

Ernest Eugene “Gene” Grimes, 80, of Lost Creek passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 in the United Hospital Center.
He was born in Fairmont on January 2, 1946, a son of the late Harkness and Orpha Criss Grimes.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Diane Grimes, whom he married on December 19, 1991.
Also surviving are three children, Rheba Myers and her husband Cody of Good Hope, Jesse Grimes and his wife Chelsea of Jane Lew, and Misty Rogers and her husband Chip of Mannington; four grandchildren, Rayvn Myers, JJ Grimes, Makenna Rogers, and Hunter Rogers; and one sister, Barbara Young of Mt. Clare.
Mr. Grimes was a 1963 graduate of East Fairmont High School and a United States Navy Veteran. He was a retired Machine Operator for Morgantown Machine with 14 years of service. Gene loved antique cars including his 1966 Chevelle. He was a member of Monroe Chapel in Romines Mill. Gene was a dedicated family man, and above all he adored his grandchildren.
