Iona I didn’t realize that Bob passed away until I saw a post on Facebook. I wanted to express my sympathy to you. I also wanted to tell how much I respected Bob and looked up to him. I really enjoyed the semester I worked with him at Fairmont State. He made sure everyone on campus felt welcome. I was even happier to find out he would be one the superintendents when I was hired as a substitute teacher in Harrison County. His advice and mentoring was invaluable to me. Every memory I have of Bob is a fond one that brings a smile to face. May he rest in eternal peace.

Iona, I was so sad to see that Bob passed away. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. I want to thank you for all that you and Bob did for my parents when they were alive. If it wasn't for wonderful friends and neighbors like you on King Street, they would not have been able to stay in their house for as long as they did. I wish you and your family the best and hope to see you when I get to Clarksburg again.

Ionia and family, it is with great sadness that I send my deepest regrets, at the loss of such a wonderful man. I have such fond memories of his joking, kind nature and a smile, he never went without! Prayers for peace that can only come from our Heavenly Father.

What a great guy and Iona too. He was a Stagecrafter and a really good one. We go way back to even planting half runner string beans, taught me that, he did. Super all around great guy now teaching for sure in Heaven . And I think the music just got a little be better up there. Lots of folks are going to miss Bob Stemple. What a wonderful contribution to West Virginia and the world he made. RIP Bob.

Mrs. Stemple, Kristy, John, and Jimmy: I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Stemple. He was a wonderful person - someone I will always remember as having a smile on his face and quick with a joke. I consider myself so lucky to have grown up next door to your family - so many wonderful memories! You were all a huge part of my childhood and I'm a better person for it! Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Take care...Suzanne

Please accept the condolences of the Critchfield family. Your loss is felt throughout Harrison County as Bob was so active in so many ways. Nathaniel and I volunteered with Bob at the Louis A. Johnson VA Hospital. I looked forward to talking with Bob about today's politics and the veterans we helped each day we worked together at the VA. Bob encouraged Nathaniel, who like Bob enjoyed running. We will greatly miss Bob. Chuck Critchfield

Dear Iona and family, we are so very sad for your loss. Words are inadequate. I have so many memories from his big grin and hug, always saying “hi hon how are you doing?” to Christmas Eve parties, WVU football games, or just randomly running into him somewhere. Bob was the best. His smile was utterly infectious and what I’ll remember most bc the love behind that grin made everyone who knew him love him. He lived and we are all better because he did. God bless you all. You’re in our prayers.
