We've been up in the mountains with no wifi, so I couldn't write 'til now. So many memories of this special guy. Our families lived so near in Stealey that Mike was often over, hanging out, talking with my parents as much as with me. And those were good talks, about dreams and hopes. Even then, Mike dreamed of a radio career. We were both in WI's Radio Club, and he was clearly the best of us. When the mike came on, Mike came on, his true nature shining through -- at ease, alive, just being himself. The years passed, and I wandered away, but Mike stayed close to his roots. Maybe that's what kept him so real, so genuine. On those rare occasions when I came back to Clarksburg, it was like I'd never been gone -- same warm, sharing conversations. Maybe Mike was the brother I never had. We were in brief touch on Facebook only two days before he passed. If only I had known then when I know now. The things I would have said. Love you, Mike.

Dear Jennifer, Marie, Michael and Family. My very deepest sympathy to all of you in the loss of your great father, a wonderful man. He was an excellent announcer, whom I always loved hearing on the radio, and such a terrific, friendly person. He always made me feel happy upon seeing him, as he always had a smile and seemed happy to see me. I have known Mike pretty much my whole life and will certainly miss him, as I know will so many other people. He was definitely one of “the good guys!” You will all remain in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Marilyn

Mike, what a special guy. My first time of meeting him was when I had my first radio appearence, lol, for our organization with United Way. I was so nervous, not him, He had such an sweet and kind personality. He was gifted. I was shocked by his death, my prayers are for all of you. To his wife, thank you for sharing him with us. He loved you dearly. Wanda Carrico, Director for Bi-County Nutrition Program, Inc.

Mrs King, Marie and Michael, I am so sorry for your loss. Your family is such a huge part of my King Street memories, being blessed to have such great neighbors and friends growing up. Mr King always had a smile and a hug whenever I saw him. My thoughts are with your family during this most difficult of times. Barb Davis
