Interment will be in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

David Edward “Coach” Patterson, Sr., 78, of Wilsonburg Road, Salem, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Glenwood Hill, on February 12, 1939, a son of the late James Arthur and Ella Virginia Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jo Fitzpatrick, whom he married on March 25, 1959; four children, Kimberly Ann Secreto and her husband Frank of Lake Floyd, Jacqueline Grover and her husband Douglas of Amissville, VA, Shawna J. Patterson of Clarksburg, and David E. Patterson, II and his wife Becky of Wolf Summit; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Secreto Anguilli and her husband John, Steven Secreto, Melanie D. Gore and her husband Joseph, Megan Secreto, Douglas Grover II, Elizabeth Ann Patterson and Olivia Danielle Patterson; two great grandchildren, John Anthony and Julia Anguilli; and one brother, James Patterson and his wife Betty of Parkersburg.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Daniel David Patterson; and one sister, Clista Jean Patterson.
Mr. Patterson was a 1958 graduate of Victory High School, was a retired Coal Miner with 30 years of service at Consol, and was the Owner of Rose of Sharon Flower Shop. He coached Pop Warner Football for 18 years earning him the nickname, “Coach”. He led the Clarksburg Panthers to several Pop Warner Championships, was awarded Coach of the Year, and was the first coach ever to be awarded the Frank Loria Award. Coach Patterson could not have loved his boys any more. He was Protestant by faith.
