Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 to 8:00 pm and on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Reverend Father Hiliarion Cann as Celebrant.   Entombment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Romano Beto, 83, of Bridgeport, joined her Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at her home. The youngest of 11 children, Barbara was born in Dola, WV on September 19,1933, to the late Antonio Rubino and Teresa Angotti Romano.

 

Married to Bernard J. Beto on October 15, 1955, he preceded her in death on February 3, 1994.

 

She is survived by her loving family, including two daughters, five grandchildren, and two siblings. Mary Frances Smith and Rob Garcia, Victoria Rae and husband Mat Barnosky, and Nicholas Ray Smith. Monica Gorrell and husband Steve Dunham, T. Harrison Gorrell, Patrick Douglas Gorrell and Lucas Andrew Gorrell; one brother, Pat Romano of Hurricane; and one sister, Josephine Loretta of Bridgeport. Barbara was also preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters, Mary Jane Ramella, Rose Iaconis, Salvatore Romano, Katherine Aiello, Joseph Romano, John Romano, Albert Romano and Frank Romano and a great grandson, Andrew Michael Barnosky.

 

A graduate of Lumberport High School, Barbara attended Marshall University, and graduated from Morgantown Beauty Academy. When not working as a hairdresser for Style-a-Rama Beauty Salon in Clarksburg, Barbara spent her time giving back to her community. In addition to volunteering at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, she acted as State President of the Lupus Foundation of WV. Barbara was a proud member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Perpetual Daughters.

 

Barbara cherished her time and conversations with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all of their activities as they brought much joy to her life.  Barbara was blessed with a large family, several who were like her own children and many friends including her neighborhood “Suspects” who always included her in their social gatherings.

 

During her difficult times and through her final days she was blessed to have many loving caregivers, especially Arlene McKinney, who was at her side until the end.
