Charles "Cotton" Wheeler, Jr.

August 31, 1944 - October 2, 2020

In keeping with his wishes, Cotton will be cremated. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm with Reverend Brian Plum officiating.

Charles “Cotton” Wheeler, Jr., 76, of Mt. Clare passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 due to a farming accident.

He was born in Mt. Clare on August 31, 1944, a son of the late Charley and Goldie Bolyard Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Candy Stalnaker Wheeler, whom he met in the fifth grade and said then that he was going to marry her, and he did on July 5, 1966.

Also surviving are three daughters, Jodi Burris and her husband Charlie of Mt. Clare, Jill Fankhauser and her husband Billy of Clarksburg, and Jade Aman and her husband Aaron of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Chelsea Buris, Joel Fankhauser and Eric Fankhauser; one brother, John Wheeler and his wife Sharon of Tallmadge, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jani Wheeler; one sister, Juanita Tondaru; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leroy Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler was a retired Equipment Operator with Teamsters Local #789.  He enjoyed hunting, working on the farm and feeding his chickens, and going to Chamberlain’s in Lost Creek to hang out with all his friends.  Cotton always enjoyed riding his side by side or his John Deere tractor on the land where he was born and raised and lived his whole life.

In keeping with his wishes, Cotton will be cremated.
