David Lee Carpenter, Sr., 85, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Buckhannon, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in Port Orange, FL.

He was born in Middlebourne, WV on August 26, 1939, a son of the late William Otto and Dollie Mae Singleton Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Freda Mae Nicholson Carpenter, whom he married on June 29, 1963.

Also surviving are two daughters, Crystal Jolley and her husband Daniel Jolley of Key West, FL and Davetta Jolley and her husband Dr. Douglas Jolley of Flatwoods, WV; one son, Dr. David Carpenter, Jr. and his wife Ginny of Port Orange, FL; four grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah) Jolley, Dr. Nicholas (Courtlyn) Jolley, Collynns Carpenter and Cole Carpenter; two great grandchildren, Henry Jolley and Owen Jolley; and one sister, Carolyn Ann Crim of Barberton, OH.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Eddie O. Carpenter; and one sister, Beverly Capicola.

Mr. Carpenter was a graduate of Victory High School, Letourneau College in Texas and was a United States Navy Veteran. He previously worked at Mason’s Machine Shop and retired from Moore’s Business Forms in 1997 with 37 years of service. David was wood worker and made furniture, and loved music, especially country, gospel and bluegrass.

There will be a private family graveside service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
