Dorothy L. “Dot” Hamrick Contrascere, 96, of Mount Clare, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Friday, August 20, 2021.

She was born on Crooked Run Rd. in Harrison County on May 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Fred W. and Beulah M. Shreves Hamrick.

Mrs. Contrascere was preceded in death by her husband Sam Contrascere. Together they shared a life based on God’s love and the love of their family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Rodney Southern of Mansfield, OH, and Linda Rollins and her husband Thomas of Mount Clare; six grandchildren, Sandra Maffett and her husband Raymond, Rodney Southern, Shannon Schexnayder, Brian Posckany, Amanda McKenzie and her husband Sean, and Adam Rollins and his wife Virginia; three great grandchildren, Cortney Southern and fiancé Serg, Aiden McKenzie, and Sydnee McKenzie; two great-great grandchildren, Malakyi and Koa; one sister, Sophie Greynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dot was preceded in death by nine siblings, Maple Beer, Edra Bunch, Mildred Reed, Cylde Hamrick, Earl Hamrick, Richard Hamrick, Charles Hamrick, Carl Hamrick, and Zula Rebrook.

Dot was a graduate of Victory High School. She dedicated her time to being a wife and mother.

Dot worked hard to create a loving and welcoming home for her family. She took great pride in cooking delicious meals and cleaning her home. She enjoyed getting together for lunches, talking on the telephone, visiting her family and friends, traveling, and getting mail. Through her lifetime, Dot made and kept very special friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Inurnment took place in the Lantz Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio.
