Edison Lowell Childers, 84, of Spring Branch, TX passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2021 in Texas.

He was born on September 15, 1936, near Coburn’s Fork in Harrison County, WV, the son of the late Hoy W. and Hazel C. Brohard Childers.  He was the grandson of Daniel and Annie (Brown) Childers and Isaac and Clara (Shingleton) Brohard.

He graduated from Bristol High School in 1955.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shila K. (Newman) Childers whom he married on July 7, 1956; a daughter, Dianna (Jeff) Ritter of Salem; two sons, Lowell (Kati) Childers, of Lansing, MI, and Kenneth (Debbie) Childers of Spring Branch, TX.  Also surviving are two grandsons, Ryan (Candis) Childers, of Spring Branch, TX, and Andrew (Rachael) Childers, of Boerne, TX; one granddaughter, Brittani Decess, and four great-grandsons, Johnny and Tristan Wood, of Boerne, TX and Silas and Sufjan Childers, of Boerne, Texas.  He is also survived by his brother, Lynn (Linda) Childers of Buckhannon, WV and a niece, Beth (David) Pickens, of Buckhannon, WV.

He worked at Southern States, Clarksburg, WV for ten years and he worked for UCAR Carbon in Anmoore, WV for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He served in the National Guard in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

Edison was a very caring father and dedicated family man.  He loved working with mechanical equipment especially antique tractors and featherweight sewing machines.  He was a very accomplished carpenter and could repair anything with a motor.
