Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.   Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 am with Reverend Richard Willson officiating.   Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Irene Lavon Swoger, 81, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 following an extended illness.  She was born in Bridgeport on October 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Jesse and Vera Buckhannon Smith.

 

She is survived by her husband, George Swoger, whom she married August 27, 1957.  Also surviving are two sons, Jeff Swoger of Clarksburg, and Tim Swoger and his wife Marcia of Woodstock, Georgia; two grandchildren, Carrie Smith and her husband Shiloh, and Josh Unger; one great grandson, Kinson Chandler Smith; two brothers, Garold Smith and his wife Ann of Bridgeport, and Larry Smith of Bridgeport; two sisters, Shirley Fultineer of Lost Creek, and Beverly Fultineer and her husband Roy of Lost Creek; two sisters-in-law, Carol Smith of Hepzibah and Judy Swoger of Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Smith; and four sisters, Agnes Jean Smith, SuAnn Fultineer, Barbara Marteeny and Janice Smith.

 

Mrs. Swoger was a 1953 graduate of Bridgeport High School.  She was a former employee of G. C. Murphy’s and retired from the Adamston Dairy Mart in 1996.  She was an active member of the Christ Church United Methodist for over 50 years and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Christ Church United Methodist, 1539 W. Pike Street, Clarksburg WV 26301.
