Joseph Carvelli, 90, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017, at the United Hospital Center.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, on January 14, 1927, a son of the late Domenick and Costanza Oliverio Carvelli.

 

He married Mary Agnes Maylee Carvelli on January 27, 1951, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage before her death on March 31, 2016.

 

Mr. Carvelli is survived by two daughters, Rose Ann Shuttleworth and husband Joe of Clarksburg and Deborah Jo Carvelli of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren, Tera Ann Cunningham, Rocco Joseph Cunningham and wife Kristy, Chandra Jo Palagino, Jacqueline Frasure Bachman and husband Brent, and Mycal Randolph; two great-grandchildren, Mason Francis Bachman and Brandon Marshall Bachman; and one step great-granddaughter, Abigail.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Carvelli, Jr. and his siblings, Anthony “Tony” Carvelli and Catherine “Doll” Hill.

 

Joseph was a graduate of Washington Irving High School Class of 1944 and a veteran in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

 

He was a hair stylist and the owner of Gentlemen’s Choice for many years having retired in 1993.

 

He traveled a great deal judging hair shows, and was an avid collector of Cadillacs. He drove the Italian Man of the Year, Joe DiMaggio, in the Italian Heritage Festival Parade, in his rare collector’s edition, the Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.

 

Private family services were held at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort.

 

Interment was held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
