Minnie Post, 96, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born Felomena Agriesti in Columbus, OH on July 11, 1920, a daughter of the late Antonio and Lucia Squeo Agriesti.

On February 13, 1943, she married Michael John Post, Sr., in Florence, South Carolina, while he was on active duty in the United States Army.  Subsequently, they were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on December 17, 1945.  They celebrated 43 year of marriage before his passing on July 16, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Michael John Post, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Pinellas Park, FL and John Anthony Post of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Jason Thomas Post, Susan Marie Post Macdonald and Theresa Ann Post; two great grandchildren, Conor Kennedy Macdonald and Gianna Grace Macdonald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Agriesti, Alesio Agriesti and Mike Agriesti; and one sister, Antonette Wood.

Minnie was a former factory employee at Ringo Rag Factory and Julian and Kokenge Company in Columbus, Ohio prior to her marriage. In addition to her roles as matriarch and homemaker, Minnie worked as a babysitter, and opened her home and her heart to numerous other children whose parents entrusted to Minnie’s loving care, nurturing support and guidance.  She continued babysitting multi-generations of her nieces and nephews throughout her life for more than 60 years.

Bleeding gold and blue, Minnie was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan and a season-ticket holder to Mountaineer football home games for over 40 years.  She celebrated a victory over the cross-state rival, Maryland Terrapins, at Milan Puskar Stadium, at the age of 95, and passionately followed the Mountaineers football and basketball teams on television and radio broadcasts.  Along with her son, John, Minnie was honored as “Mountaineer Parent” to her granddaughter, Theresa Ann Post, whom she helped to raise, and was presented with a carved, wooden Mountaineer statue on the field at halftime of a game in 2000.  She also had a passion for the professional Pittsburgh sports teams, including the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Minnie loved being outdoors, and she enjoyed gardening and mowing her lawn.  Appreciating the fruits of her labors from her garden, she canned tomatoes, peppers, beans, and cucumbers.

Minnie was a fabulous cook and would make macaroni from scratch, along with her homemade sauce and meatballs.  She baked dozens of delicious homemade Christmas cookies each year and would spoil friends and relatives with her treats as an expression and extension of her love.  She was proud of her Italian heritage and taught her family countless valuable traditions.

She was formerly a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and currently a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Small in stature, at only 4′ 9″, her name, “Minnie,” was appropriate.  However, she was a strong, determined woman and a proud breast cancer survivor from 1980. She possessed a thoughtful, generous heart, and was blessed to love and be loved by her extended family and friends.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 12:00 to 8:00 pm, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation, and also on Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 10:00 am with Reverend Father Kent Durig as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
