At the age of 67, Porter Maxwell Whitehair Jr, affectionately referred to as Mac, of East View, was called to heaven on April 3, 2016.

Mac, the oldest of twelve children, was born October 13, 1948, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Porter Whitehair and Mary Blanche Moore Whitehair.

He was dedicated to family and no stranger to hard work.   Despite persistent health issues of his own, he sacrificed the first three decades of his life caring for others.  Even though he did not have any children of his own, he doted on his many nieces and nephews, remembering every birthday and attending special events.  His towering build balanced with a calm and genuine personality, made him an easy favorite uncle. He cherished every memory and spent countless hours capturing video that will forever be treasured by his surviving family. A committed Mountaineer fan he attended innumerable games and enthusiastically cheered from home.  He will forever be missed by his family and friends.

Mac is survived by four brothers, Jess Whitehair and wife Katie of Mt. Clare, David Whitehair of Bridgeport, George Whitehair and wife Sandy of Grafton and Robert Whitehair and wife Lisa of Bridgeport; six sisters, Marie Whitehair of Stonewood, Mary Lou Whitehair of Bridgeport, Susann Phillips and husband Mike of Stonewood, Robin Rush of Clarksburg, Greta Antrobius and husband Gary of Clarksburg, Patricia Owens and husband James of Anmoore; sister in law, Sonia Whitehair of Clarksburg; 31 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Larry Whitehair, two brothers-in-law, Buckley Rush, Andy Hargis; three nephews, Michael Hargis, Jesse Hargis and Andy Hargis; and one niece, Rachel R. Phillips.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Monday, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Patty Post presiding.

Interment will follow at the Elk View Masonic Cemetery.
