Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.   The service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Brian Plum presiding.   Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

Sylvia Irene Winning, 82, of Marshville Community, passed away on February 8, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.

 

She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on June 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Floyd E. Reynolds and Violet Hashman Reynolds Aley. She was the step-daughter of the late Bert C. Aley.

 

On March 30, 1974, she married John J. Winning, Jr. who preceded her in death on July 27, 2014.

 

Mrs. Winning is survived by three sons, James R. “Rusty” Stewart and wife Elizabeth “Kathy” of Marshville, Reverend Michael L. Stewart and wife GinGee of Highland, TX, and Timothy P. Stewart and wife Donna of Marshville; one daughter, Kristy I. Sorensen of Nederland, TX; two stepsons, John J. Winning, III and wife Joyce of Boiling Spring, SC, and Richard A. Winning of Richmond, VA; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Ann Miller and husband Glen of Inman, SC, and Marlene Cowan and husband Joe of Ireland. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Reynolds of Clarksburg.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Reynolds, Porter Reynolds and Earl Reynolds, Jr., one sister, Ilene Reynolds; and three stepbrothers, Harley Aley, William Aley and Wayne Aley.

 

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church for over 70 years, where she sang in the choir until she was unable and was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher. She was an avid quilter and loved reading her Bible.  She retired from Eagle Convex with 27 years of service as a glass worker.

The service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Brian Plum presiding.

 

Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.
