Evelyn Zandra Swegard Snider passed away peacefully, March 1, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born July 10, 1929 in Wheeling, WV to the late Alfred J. and Madelyn M. Hauser Swegard Sr. Evelyn was a registered nurse, and lived the majority of her life in Clarksburg, WV as an active member of her community and church. She sang in the choir at Immaculate Conception and volunteered for many years at The Mustard Seed. Evelyn was a member and officer of the Chestnut Hills Garden Club and had an impressive green thumb. She took impeccable care of her beautiful plants and flowers and had a great appreciation for their beauty. Evelyn loved music and could often be found humming along to Gospel songs on her stereo. She enjoyed going to “Music in the Park” at the VA with friends. She especially loved listening to her grandchildren playing her piano. Evelyn was proud of her family and loved when everyone was together. The home she and her late husband built has been the gathering place for holidays and family celebrations for 3 generations: hosting baptisms, confirmations, wedding and baby showers, graduation parties, Evelyn was an avid reader, a lover of puzzles, and enjoyed watching NCIS and The Hallmark Channel. In recent years, she enjoyed rocking on the front porch, listening to the birds and wind chimes, watching for squirrels, and spending time with visitors. Surviving is one brother, Donald Swegard, and 6 children: John Snider, James (Cindy) Snider, Joseph (Sara Jo) Snider, Judith (Sam) Scalise, Joyce Shaffer, and Jeff (Debbie) Snider; 14 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jason) Pittman, Ruth (Noah) Jellison, John Shaffer, Samantha (Jason) Preceding her in death are her husband John F. Snider, two brothers Alfred Swegard Jr., and Jerry Swegard, one daughter-in-law Suzette Snider, and one son-in-law S. James Shaffer.
