Mary Jo Reger Hitt

Mary Jo Hitt, 85, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the United Hospital Center.

She was born in Wendel, WV, on June 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Curtis and Brennie Dunson Reger.

Mrs. Hitt was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Hitt, in 2003. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brittney Hitt Corkran.

She is survived by three daughters, Juda Fliess and husband Penn of Jacksonville, FL; Pamela Pinti and husband Joe of Bridgeport, and Cindy Jeffers and husband Michael of Bridgeport; eight grandchildren, Amanda Ash, Cassidy Fliess, Tyler Pinti, Marcus Pinti, Bailee Jeffers, Brooklynn Jeffers, Bryce Jeffers, and Blaine Jeffers; and 10 great grandchildren.

She retired from the Harrison County Circuit Clerk’s Office. She was a member of the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church, a member of the Maple Lake Club, and the Maple Lake Woman’s Club. She was also a past member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Club.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Following the visitation there will be a graveside Service at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with Reverend Steve Elderbrock presiding.
