Margaret "Peggy" Walden Helmick

Margaret Walden “Peggy” Helmick, 97, of Clarksburg passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in Fazio’s Elder Care, Fairmont.

She was born in Grafton on April 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Nancy James Walden.

She was married to Lewis “Lefty” Helmick on November 28, 1947, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Arthur Lee Helmick and his wife Nancy of Clarksburg; one daughter, Margaret Ann Stearn and her husband Paul of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend from high school, Charlotte “T.C.” Sharp Smith.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Helmick; one daughter, Mary Helfin; one grandson, Kevin Fealy; and one brother, James Walden.

Peggy was a 1946 graduate of Washington Irving High School. She was previously an operator with C & P Telephone Company and retired as an officer with Arlington Bank & Trust in Arlington, VA. She volunteered at the Mustard Seed in Clarksburg and was an active member of the United Methodist Temple.

In keeping with her wishes, Peggy will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
