Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2025 at 10:00 am with Heath Frazier presiding.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Paletta will be cremated following the service.

Phyllis Jean Paletta, 77, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in the United Hospital Center following an extended illness.

She was born in Clarksburg on August 27, 1948, a daughter of the late Max and Rejane Gardez Sparks.

She is survived by her husband, John J. Paletta, whom she married in October, 1968.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Paletta and his wife Kim and John Paletta; two daughters, Michele Paletta and Toni Paletta, all of the Stealey addition of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, Desiree West, Jordan Shelly and her husband Justin, Dru Mitchell, Jamie Fox and her husband Ronnie, Colton Lynch and his wife Kendra and Orion Rohrbough; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Sparks of the North View community; and her cat “Sheeba”

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Patrick Greynolds.

Mrs. Paletta was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. She was a member of the Lucinda Rose Auxiliary No. 573 VFW, Ladies Auxiliary Clarksburg Aerie No. 2353 Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 13 and volunteered for the WV Italian Heritage Festival.
