Carey was a 1984 graduate of Liberty High School. He had been employed at Kroger for 18 years. Carey was a natural artist. His drawing and writing skills were truly amazing. Carey was key in implementing the first Clarksburg Winterfest. He was a long time Super Fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He loved Star Trek, Sci Fi, all kinds of music, comic books, classic literature, playing the harmonica and had the largest knowledge base of obscure facts. Carey was also an avid fisherman. He spent a great deal of time fishing on the Buckhannon River and landed his share of muskies. He was the first one in the morning with a fishing pole in his hand headed toward the river. Carey valued family and friendship above anything else. If a family is a wheel, he was our hub. Carey shared the closest relationship possible with his son Matthew. Their bond was unbreakable and Matthew stayed fast by his side through every moment, good or tough. Carey made everything wonderful. He was always joyous, even in the face of adversity. His quick wit, big hugs and presence were an integral part of our lives, and this void will be chasmic. He was also an irreplaceable friend to so many. He maintained friendships from elementary school and made another friend everywhere he went. His work family at Kroger were very dear to him. Their support of Carey during his illness was so appreciated. He had another family of friends who were his Primanti Brothers trivia partners, Fat Chance. Carey enjoyed life more than many do. He appreciated the beauty and value in everything. He was good, kind, smart, funny and brought life to everything. His family is devastated by his passing but count ourselves beyond lucky that our lives lined up together. We will miss you forever. The family would like to thank the staff at the UHC Cancer Center. A special thank you to Dr. Ahmad, Vanessa Lipscomb and Skylar Bartlett. Their care for Carey over the past 3 years was remarkable and he loved you all. Also, a special thank you to Carey’s dearest friend Alex Main who Carey considered a brother. Your support of Carey and his family during this time made this load a little lighter. In keeping with his wishes, Carey will be cremated. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.amoscarvelli.com.
