Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home at 201 Edison Street Nutter Fort, WV on Monday, March 23rd from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a service will be held on Tuesday, March 24th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.

Jeffrey Lynn Swiger, age 75, of Shinnston and formerly of Frametown, WV, departed this life Thursday, March 19, 2026, following an extended illness. He was born in Clarksburg on September 25, 1950 the son of the late Clifford O. Swiger and Margaret E. McQuaid Swiger.

Surviving are three children, Lydia V. Nichols of Lumberport, Jenny L. (Scott) House of Grafton, and Dr. Jodi A. Conrad and Kate McElwain of New Vineyard, Maine. Two grandchildren, Gaige T. Quickle, and Benjamin “Ben” Nichols. Two siblings, Joseph E. Swiger and his wife Jacquie of Morgantown, and Jeannine Amos and husband Randy of Clarksburg, and brother-in-law Robert Clutter and wife Vickie, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his immediate family, Jeff also considered many as his “bonus” family including Jesse and Casey Wood of Frametown, WV, Jaycee, Joseph “Little Joe”, and Julian Wood, and many other longtime faithful and amazing friends

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by four brothers, Randall, James “Tuck”, Roger and Kenneth Swiger; one sister, Ann Marie Clutter; and a half brother Ray Laughery and his wife Eunice.

Jeff was a graduate of Lumberport High School, Class of 1969 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Glenville State College. He then established himself as a highly regarded West Virginia State Trooper having retired in 1999 as Sergeant after 25 years of service. He continued to work following retirement for five years with Masters Law Firm in Charleston.

Jeff was a 50 year member of St. Johns Lodge #24 AF and AM in Shinnston. He was also a Charter Member of the WV Troopers Association. He was a charter member of the Ohio Valley FOP Lodge. He loved fishing and big game hunting, as well as riding motorcycles. Above all, Jeff was a friend to whomever he met and always was willing to lend a helping hand.

He was Protestant by Faith.
