Timothy Bryan McGinnis Sr. (Pops), 69, of Gretna, LA, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was doing what he loved most, spending time with his children and grandchildren in West Virginia, what he referred to as “God’s Country”.

He is survived by his mother, Winifred Robinson McGinnis; children, Carol McGinnis (Charles) and Timothy McGinnis Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren, Kaylee Lawtum, Frank Lamonte IV, Carter McGinnis and Cambri McGinnis; siblings, Cheryl McGinnis (Ed Woolman), Thomas “Skip” McGinnis III (Lauren), Shannon Cummings (Jim) and Sheilah Orgeron (Ray).

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas McGinnis Jr.; paternal grandparents, Thomas McGinnis Sr. and Verna Schuler McGinnis; maternal grandparents, Frank Robinson Sr. and Ida LaGrand Robinson and his best friend, Manuel Rotolo Jr.

Timothy was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 23, 1956, and raised in Harvey, LA. He graduated from West Jefferson High School and then spent 41 years working as a dispatcher for Carlo Ditta. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with friends and family and traveling to West Virginia.

Pops was a local weatherman, unmatched story-teller and an expert on all things bigfoot. What he loved most was being a grandfather and talking about his grandchildren was something that worked its way into every conversation. He was larger than life with a personality that put a smile on anyone’s face he encountered. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated.
