October 20, 1958 - June 4, 2026 In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation services were held in Virginia. Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort, West Virginia on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 4-8pm. Carol Diane Snyder, 67, of Ashland, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2026. Carol was born in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Richard McElwain and Hazel McElwain and was preceded in death by both of her parents. She retired from Dominion Energy Incorporated, where she worked as a Gas Measurement Analyst. Carol completed two years of college and was a faithful member of the United Methodist Temple Church. A woman of many talents and passions, Carol was a gifted artist, an accomplished seamstress, and a certified aerobics instructor. She was an avid fitness enthusiast who embraced an active lifestyle and encouraged others to do the same. Carol was also a devoted supporter of the Special Olympics and found great joy in helping and encouraging others. Carol was a proud and enthusiastic fan of West Virginia University sports. She loved camping, RV traveling, tailgating with family and friends, and spending time outdoors. A true animal lover, she had a special place in her heart for all creatures great and small. Above all else, Carol treasured her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Gregory Snyder; her sons, James Wesley and David Nicholas, his wife, Maria; and her cherished granddaughter and pride and joy, Brandice Thornhill. She is also survived by her older brother, Richard McElwain II; her younger brother, Thomas McElwain, and his wife, Kelly; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer (McElwain) Ross, Richard McElwain III, and Evan McElwain; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
