Nancy Lucille Zapf Blankenship, 80, of Lost Creek, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Fairmont Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Nancy was born in Alton, Illinois on August 14, 1945, a daughter of the late Frank and Lucille Busse Zapf. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Blankenship, who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Blankenship and her husband Karl Johnson of Lost Creek and Kay Salizzoni and her husband Mario of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Jenn Salizzoni and her husband Nick of Parkersburg and Jared Ornellas and his significant other Haley of OH; one great-grandson, Weston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Smith. Nancy was a teacher for the Wood County School District. She received her education from Glenville State University and earned her master’s degree from West Virginia University. She loved to shop and do puzzles. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed. Private services will be held for Nancy. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt.
