Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 2:00 – 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastors Randy Landes and Doug Sands officiating. Interment will be in the Boring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387. Barbara Mae Dean, 85, of Clarksburg passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at her residence.

She was born in Clarksburg on January 13, 1940, a daughter of the late George “Denzil” and Lucy “Madge” Yates Boggess.

She was married to Franklin Grant “Buzz” Dean, who preceded her in death on April 15, 2020.

Surviving are one son, Edward W. Dean and his wife Tracy of Clarksburg; one daughter, Debra D. Queen of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, McKenzie M. Matheny (Logan), Alyssa N. Dean (Danielle) and Bailee R. Anderson (Travis); four great grandchildren, Everly M. Matheny, Khloe Dean, Zoe Dean and Bodhi Anderson; five sisters-in-law, Aleta Stout, Carolyn Boggess, Karen Dean, Virginia Dean and Margaret Dean; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, George D. Boggess, Jr., and one son-in-law, David Queen. Barbara was a graduate of Unidis High School, Martinsburg Beauty School and was employed at O’Jay’s and Marion’s Hair Salons. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Bible study and was heavily involved in their church camps. She enjoyed word search puzzles, crocheting, gardening and loved being outside. Most of all, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
