Charles Randall (Randy) Hickman II of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the age of 82 due to complications after a series of strokes. Randy was born in Weston, WV on April 16, 1943, the eldest child of the late Commander Charles R. and Helen Virginia Hickman, also of Weston.
Growing up in a military family, he had the unique experience of living in many places, including Japan, Bermuda, Florida, Hawaii, South Carolina, California, Texas, Rhode Island, Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. These diverse experiences enriched his life and shaped the hard working, caring, and steadfast individual he became.
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Randy proudly served as a Marine. After his military service, Randy fulfilled a promise to his parents and returned to school, graduating from Weston High School in 1962. He then embarked on a career in sales/management positions in the banking and finance industries, decades with Clarksburg Iron and Steel, and Advance Auto.
Throughout his life, Randy displayed a passion for cars and enjoyed working on them, participating in car shows, and attending/watching NASCAR races. This love for vehicles was evident in his pride in his Corvettes and a 1940 Ford Custom Deluxe he restored. He also enjoyed the outdoors; farming, hunting with friends and family, and boating and camping on Tygart Lake. These hobbies brought him great joy and quality time with family and friends and now provide wonderful memories for those who remain.
Randy is survived by his wife, Cathy (Burdiss Wilson) Hickman, whom he married May 24, 2008, and both considered it a blessing to have found each other, and they cherished every moment spent together in their 16-year union. True to her vows, Cathy provided unwavering love, devotion, and care for Randy throughout their marriage, but especially during his illness these last five years.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and knows the immense joy he found in spending time with them. Surviving are his twin daughters-who were his pride and joy- Lisa Ann Hickman Walters (Ashland, KY) husband, Adam, and granddaughters, Haley and Lexi and Robin Lynn Hickman Jones (Tampa, FL) and grandson, Ethan; his former spouse, Linda Fisher Hickman, with whom he shared his children; Cathy’s daughter, Elizabeth Wilson Lones (Dalton, OH), husband Jason and grandson, Wilson; and his two siblings with whom he shared a special bond – Michael M. Hickman (Judy) of Havana, Florida and Lora L. Rohrbough of Bridgeport and husband, Mark, whom he thought of as a brother. His extended family consisted of many nieces and nephews who considered him a wonderful uncle and a great supporter of all their activities. Randy was preceded in death by one niece, Angie Tangari Fowler, of Clarksburg.
In recognition of the care and devotion Randy received, the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the faithfulness of Amedisys Hospice nurses Amy Turner, Jeanette Larew, Kendra Linger, and aide, Hannah Ellifrit; Taylor County Lighthouse program worker, Brenda Eltzeroth; brother-in-law Mark Rohrbough, and the friends and Clarksburg Baptist Church family who were “on call” as needed.
In keeping with his wishes, Randy will be cremated.
