I absolutely loved being in Mr. Nutter‘s history class! He always made it interesting! We’d talk about hunting season, what bow we shot with, things of that nature. He would use everything in his arsenal to keep his students engaged.

So sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. He was both our boys ( Joseph Anthony & Ronnie Jr. Zara) school teacher and coach. My boys loved him and our son Joseph especially was fond of Gary and was a friend to Michael. We moved to Ga. when Joseph was 13, 1986 and he always talked about how much he missed, (Mr. Nutter & Michael) Condolences to Debbie, Michael, & beautiful “Little Nicole” and RIP Gary. You were a good man, husband, father, and a great influence on our two boys. Thank you ❤️

One of the best! So many great memories working with Gary at RW Junior High and then WI Middle. No matter the battle of the day, Gary would find humor, share it and make those days enjoyable and memorable. I feel like he taught me morning bus and lunch duty supervision 101. Old school discipline, the ability to create a trusting rapport and the sharing of a big heart! Younger teachers need more experienced teachers to demonstrate how one is to manage student behavior. He probably never knew just how much I practiced what I learned from him. Deb, we love ya! Matt DeMotto

Debbie and family, my heart goes out to you and yours in the loss of Gary. One only had to be around him a few times to see the goodness that he possessed. He always had a smile on his face and made it a point to speak to anyone he knew. We rode our Harleys a few times together and always had a good time. He touched many lives and will be missed, but remember all of the good times that you shared with him. You are in my prayers. Robert W. Faris.

Mr. Nutter was my grade school teacher at West Milford. He is the reason I love to read. We use to get in trouble for writing: Mr. Nutter butter ,peanut butter on the chalkboard. He tried to act mad but, always cracked a smile. I recently seen him I knew who he was instantly. His black hair had changed but, l still saw my teacher. I was blessed to have a teacher like him. Rest in peace Mr. Nutter butter peanut butter . Thank you for teaching me the love of reading.
