Family and friends may gather at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm with Rev. John Langenstine of the North View Methodist Church presiding. A private graveside service will be held at Friendship Cemetery where her ashes will be buried next to her daughter and parents.

JoAnn Francis Straley Dobbins, 94, of Clarksburg, passed away May 12, 2025 at the United Hospital Center. She was born January 18, 1931 in Weston, West Virginia.
She was one of eight children of the late Denzil and Marie Francis of Lewis County.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Judy Straley Gonzalez of Clarksburg, Janet Straley Utt and husband David of Jane Lew, Robert Vincent Straley and wife Mary Ann of Clarksburg, Michael Ray Dobbins and wife Donna of Louisville, KY, and Charles Edwin Dobbins and wife Lea Ann of Good Hope. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three brothers, Ralph Francis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charles Francis of Clarksburg, Jerry Francis of Jane Lew, and one sister Carol Bennington of Lumberport.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Dobbins Wine; sisters, Lucille Francis Marks of Clarksburg and Betty Francis Boram of Fairmont; and brother Warren Francis of Fairmont.
She retired from J. C. Penney with nearly 30 years of service. She was a graduate of Jane Lew High School and enjoyed the yearly reunions. She was a member of the North View United Methodist Church where she had many friends. She enjoyed working in the food pantry with her good friend, Trish George, and attending monthly dinners. She always loved working outside with her flowers and plants. She was also an avid NASCAR and NBA fan and loved watching all sports, spending many hours on the phone with her sister, Betty, watching the different events. She loved taking care, when needed, of her grand dogs who lived next door.
A special thank you goes out to Lisa Teufel who faithfully cared for JoAnn.
In keeping with her wishes, JoAnn will be cremated.
