Weldon Roy Thomas, Jr., 47 years old, of Bridgeport passed away May 20, 2025, in Orange County, CA following a battle with addiction.

He was born on July 20, 1977, in Fairmont, WV, a son of Linda Melton Thomas and the late Weldon Roy Thomas.

Weldon Jr. is survived by his mother and two daughters, London and Madilyn of Bridgeport; two sisters, Marcia Swaney of Doylestown, PA, and Camilla McCandless and her husband Stephen of Charlestown, RI; and four nieces and nephews, Braden and Parker Swaney and Samantha and Joshua McCandless. He is also remembered fondly by his aunts, Barbara Coyne of Mountain City, TN and Ivory Conley of Fletcher, NC; his uncle Dwayne Melton and wife Regina of Burnsville, NC; and a wide circle of cousins and friends.

Weldon was a 1995 graduate of Bridgeport High School, and a 2002 graduate of Fairmont State University with a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing. He had a longstanding career in car sales and finance. Weldon had an infectious smile, great laugh, cared immensely about his friends and family, and was excellent at negotiating a deal. He had faith, confidence, and a passion for life. His pride and joy were his two girls and he always strived to excel at work and make his family proud.

Weldon fought hard to get control over his addiction (multiple rehab programs, rapid detoxification, methadone clinics and other treatments) and had several successes along the way. His family would like for Weldon to be remembered for who he was as a person and not solely be defined by his addiction. Some of his most cherished successes with sobriety came from his time at Teen Challenge, and his family asks, in lieu of flowers, to consider a donation to any addiction program in Weldon’s memory.
