In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. A private inurnment will be held at the WV National Cemetery.

William Charles Holmes, Sr., 92, of St. Albans, WV, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Ravenswood Care Center.
William was born on October 29, 1933, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Amos and Nellie Lambert Holmes.
He is survived by his son, Paul Holmes and his ex-wife Lucinda of St. Albans; five grandchildren, Billy Holmes, Chris Holmes, Amber Holmes, Aaron Holmes and his wife Brittany, and Kodie Baire and her husband Willie; and a great-granddaughter, Aurora N Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linnie V. Holmes; as well as his son, Chuck Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was a Corporal in the Army. He was a minister of the United Methodist Conference and loved preaching until the day he died. In his spare time, he was an avid tv watcher and enjoyed shows such as Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and his favorite, Bones. When there were no good shows on to watch, he could be found listening to and singing his favorite old gospel hymns. In addition to his other skills, he was a great swimmer because he spent majority of his youth in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated.
