Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday, October 31, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.   The service will be held at the North View United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenny Kendall, Reverend Jim Burrough, and Reverend Dave Fisher presiding. Mr. Jorgensen will lie in state one hour prior to the service.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lorie Brown, to offset the funeral expenses, at P.O. Box 279, Flatwoods, WV   26621.

John Jorgensen Sr., 71, of Clarksburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2017.  Instead of sticking around here, he chose to celebrate his 72nd birthday in Heaven with Jesus which was on October 29th.

 

He was born in Miami, FL, on October 29, 1945, to the late Edmund Robert Jorgensen and Sylvia Blanche McNurlen Jorgensen.  He was raised by his aunt and uncle the late Fred Phillips and Lillian Ermania McNurlen Phillips.

 

Also preceding him in death was his son, John Jorgensen Jr. in March of this year, sister, Susan Phillips Law, and grandmother, Genevieve Wells McNurlen, mother-in-law, Marjorie Boyce, and brother-in-law and close friend, Kenny Boyce.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Lorie Jorgensen Brown and husband Shawn of Flatwoods, grandson, John “Rock” Jorgensen III, granddaughter, Rebecca Jorgensen, and ex-wife, Jeanie Jorgensen all of Clarksburg.  Finally, he is survived by his special friend, Diane Kisinger and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

He recently retired from Culligan Water.  Prior to that, he worked at Anchor Hocking where he served as an officer of the Union.  He was also an Army veteran.

 

His favorite pastime was watching Mountaineer football and basketball.  He was a long-time football season ticket holder.  He was very active in the North View United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for many years.
