John Joseph Romano, 69, of Bridgeport, passed away on February 24, 2026.

He was born in Tuscola, IL on September 18, 1956, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Oliverio Romano.

John leaves behind his son, Joseph Romano and wife Madison of Germantown, MD; two sisters, Susan R. Gallant and husband Warren of Heber, UT, and Angela Romano of Bridgeport; two uncles, Joe Oliverio and wife Jeanne and Paul Oliverio; one aunt, Angela Ihle; several nieces and nephews; and his Romano and Oliverio cousins.

Mr. Romano attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from West Virginia University. He spent many years working as a mortgage broker, retiring from First American Bank.

John has a passion for all things film. He enjoyed golfing when he was younger and shooting guns.

With his passing, his family finds comfort knowing he was reunited with his parents, and his dog, Strikey.

In keeping with his wishes, John will be cremated.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 126 E Pike St, Clarksburg, on Monday, March 2, 2025 at 10:00 am with Father Casey Mahone as celebrant.
