Eileen Rose Harper Stehura, 98, of Hurricane, WV, formerly of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Magnolia Assisted Living Facility in Hurricane.
She was born in Davis, WV on June 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Robert and Grace Hedrick Harper.
Eileen married George E. Stehura on April 26, 1956. After 67 years of love and happiness, he preceded her in death on August 15, 2023.
Mrs. Stehura is survived by one daughter, Barbara Jean Lauffer and husband Dan of Hurricane; two grandchildren, Dr. Andrea Lauffer and husband Dr. Caleb Huff, and Zach Lauffer, Esq. and wife Eriel, all of Hurricane; eight great-grandchildren, Gracie, Noah, Emma, Iyla, and Liam Huff, Cora Scott, and Elijah and Luke Lauffer.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Stehura; sister, Genny Winston Griffin; and brother, Bobby Harper.
Eileen attended Washington Irving High School. She worked at the United Hospital Center as an OB Technician for 16 years, and as a seamstress for Maidenform. She later found fulfillment volunteering at the VA Hospital and UHC.
Mrs. Stehura was a 50 year member of Spring Hill Chapel, and a current member of St. Marks Lutheran Church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kim Miller, and the caregivers and staff, at Magnolia Assisted Living. Their care and kindness will never be forgotten, and they will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mrs. Stehura will lie in state at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 1766 Milford St, Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Warren Lahammer presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Eileen’s name, be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1766 Milford St. Clarksburg, WV 26301.
