Family and friends will be received at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Austin Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where full military rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Luther R. Allen, Jr., 79, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at United Hospital Center.
He was born in Clarksburg on August 14, 1946, a son of the late Luther and Margaret Starkey Allen.
Luther is survived by his loving wife, Donna McClain Allen.
He is also survived by his children: David Allen and his wife Maria of Virginia, Jason Allen of Good Hope, and Raetta Allen of Nutter Fort; one stepson, Charles “Buddy” Koon of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Amanda “Ashley” Materna and her husband Michael of Virginia, Taylor Allen of Good Hope, and Reagan Allen of Good Hope; two great-grandchildren, Penelope Materna and Amelia Materna; and one sister, Margaret Williams and her husband Bill of Nutter Fort.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey “Butch” Allen.
Mr. Allen was a 1964 graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School, a proud United States Army veteran, and a retired technician with Xerox Corporation. He had a deep passion for HAM radio (call sign W8LRA) and enjoyed connecting with people across the world, as well as a lifelong love of astronomy, often spending time studying the night sky and sharing that interest with others.
