Marcus Robert Gerald “Moke” Barnett, 40, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

He was born in in Clarksburg, WV, on November 13, 1980, the son of Wendy D. Barnett Nelson and the stepson of Robert Nelson of Clarksburg.

Marcus is survived by his fiancé, Crystal lea Allen of Wilsonburg; his daughter, Isabella Renay Spencer Barnett of Clarksburg; stepchildren, Dakota Hendershot of Grafton, Camdon Hendershot of Wilsonburg, and Heaven Hendershot of Wilsonburg. Also surviving are two brothers, James Michael Paul Barnett of Pittsburgh, and Robert Anthony Nelson and his wife Gia of Nutter Fort; nieces and nephews, Talinda, Taylic, Tristan, and Roman; aunts and uncles, April Farris, Mark Barnett, William Barnett and wife Tammy, Dorene Barnett, Paul Barnett and T.J. Barnett; as well as close friends.

He was preceded in death by his uncle Robert Barnett.

Marcus was a graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School Class of 1999, and was a line cook at Ryan’s Restaurant.

Moke was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, loved basketball most especially he was a Michael Jordan fan, and loved cooking. He was a gentle giant and was a peace maker who loved spending time with his daughter, Isabella and his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He loved music and was a 2Pac and Biggie Smalls fan.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm, where the funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm with Pastor Peggy Williams presiding.

Honoring his wishes, Marcus will be cremated following the service.
