Betty Gizzi, 85, of Bridgeport, got a glimpse of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and went home to receive her Eternal Heavenly reward on September 2, 2016.

Betty was born October 30, 1930, daughter of the late Jose Garcia Galan and Leona Bland Galan.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pietro “Pete” Gizzi, one son, Bill Gizzi, and one sister, Mary Myers.

Betty is survived by one son, Manuel Gizzi and his wife Vicki of Anmoore, and one daughter, Lyddia Bellamy of Clarksburg; daughter-in-law, Patty Gizzi of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Bill Gizzi and wife Hannah of Fredericksburg, VA, Nicole Singleton and husband Wilber “Bubbie” of Clarksburg, Jamie Gizzi and wife Crystal of Lost Creek, and Michael Shinn of Clarksburg. Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren, Jeremy, Tawny, Graham, Hailey, Brooke, Joseph, TyAnna, Tamira, Georgia, Jalyn, and Caleb; one great great granddaughter, Sophie, with two more on the way; her brother, Joe Galan and wife Janet of Bridgeport; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She retired from a longtime career as a glass decorator from the former Eagle Convex Glass Company of Clarksburg. Betty kept a fondness for cooking and baking, especially after her retirement. She was an avid sports fan, rooting for the West Virginia University football and basketball teams as well as a diehard fan of all professional sports teams in Pittsburgh, the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates.

Betty enjoyed and cherished the times she spent with her family, especially those times when she played (and most times won) card games. She was a longtime member of Bethel Temple Christian Center in Bridgeport. Her devotion to her family and, most importantly, her firm faith in her Jesus supported her through her struggles and ultimately gave her peace.
