Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.   In keeping with her request, Betty will be cremated following the visitation.  A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Betty Joretta Ware Alban, 85, of Elkins, (formerly of Clarksburg), passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 following an extended illness.

 

She was born in Junior, WV on August 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Ray E. and Virginia Browning Ware.

 

She was married to Paul Alban on July 27, 1951, who survives.  Also surviving are one son, Barry Alban of Clarksburg; one brother, Marvin Ware of Morgantown; one sister, Gail Sencil and her husband Robert of Junior; and one sister-in-law, Opal Ware of Belington; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul “Eddie” Alban, III; two brothers, Odbert Ware and Bradford Ware; and one sister-in-law, Sue Ware.

 

Mrs. Alban was a graduate of Fairmont State College and received her Master’s in Education from West Virginia University.  She was a retired English teacher with the Harrison County Board of Education with 32 years of service, having taught English at Central Junior High School and RW Middle School.  Betty loved working with crafts and reading.  She was a member of the DeLand Methodist Church in Florida.

In keeping with her request, Betty will be cremated following the visitation.  A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mountain Hospice, 1002 S. Crim Avenue, Belington, WV  26250.
