Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the WV National Cemetery with Pastor Sherman Goodwin officiating.

Betty Lou Carmichael Nixon, 89, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the United Hospital Center.
She was born in Buckhannon, WV on June 3, 1935 and was the daughter of Wilbur V. and Mary Carmichael. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Archie and Eve Carmichael, who considered Betty as their own.
Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ulysses Kesling and also her second husband, Billy Nixon, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2011.
Surviving are three children, Richard Kesling of Clarksburg, Sue Benedum and husband Leslie of Durbin and Steve Nixon of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Jennifer Biesczad and her fiancé Jason Wyne and Jamey Biesczad and his wife Amanda, Dustin Nixon and his girlfriend Maddy, and Mackenzie Elwood; five great grandchildren, Chance Wyne, Harmony Charlie and Deegan Elwood and Isabella Biesczad; one sister, Sharon Ann Carmichael of Wilsonburg; three brothers, Rodney Carmichael of Wilsonburg, and Ricky and Randy Carmichael; and one son-in-law, Ronald Biesczad.
She was also preceded in death by two children at birth, Donald and David Kesling; and one brother, Wilbur V. “Sonny” Carmichael, III.
Betty was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School. She formerly worked at Palace Furniture and Meadow Gold Dairy, and retired from K-Mart where she loved working as a Jewelry Specialist.
