Family and friends may call at the Clarksburg Church of God, 875 Limestone Run Road, Clarksburg, on Sunday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., where the service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Randell Fuson presiding.   The committal service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glen Haven Cemetery in New Carlisle, Ohio, with Reverend Fred Napier presiding.

Bishop Phillip Allen Gross, 53, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the United Hospital Center.

 

He was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota, on April 24, 1964, a son of Reverend Hubert Allen and Geraldine Whitt Gross of Miamisburg, Ohio.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Sue Holloway Gross, whom he married on February 13, 1988.

 

Also surviving are one daughter, Ashley Gross of Bridgeport, and her future husband, Corey McKinney; one son, Zachary Gross of Bridgeport, one brother, Stephen Gross of Ohio; mother-in-law, Ruth Holloway; brother-in-law, David Holloway and wife Sunita; three sisters-in-law, Carol Darby, Cynthia Holloway and Connie Penland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Bishop Phillip earned a Bachelor of Science in Church Administration, and was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God out of Cleveland, TN.  He served as music pastor for over 20 years and senior pastor for the past 6 ½ years.  He was the WV Church of God State Music Committee Chairman for the past three years.  He was well known soloist, music writer, pianist and saxophonist.  He loved developing potential leaders in achieving their goals.

 

Bishop Phillip was very much a family man, who loved his children and family members.  He loved singing together with his wife children.

The committal service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glen Haven  Memorial Gardens, 8200 West National Road, New Carlisle, Ohio, with Reverend Fred Napier presiding.
