Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Boyd Lee “Buck Richards, 73, of Stonewood, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the River Oaks Nursing Home in Clarksburg.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on August 29, 1943, a son of the late John Raymond and Ella Nicholson Richards.

 

His wife of 48 years, Donna Rose McGary Richards, whom he married on January 13, 1969, resides at their home in Stonewood.

 

Also surviving are two sons, Steven Lee Richards and wife Christina of Stonewood, and Brian Russell “Lugnut” Richards and wife Heather of Nutter Fort; three grandchildren, Allyson Danielle Richards, Andrew Steven Richards and Madison Riley Richards; his sister, Joan Cunningham and husband Lee of Lumberport; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Richards, Francis Ferrell, Charles “Chuck” Richards and William “Chick” Richards.

 

Buck retired from the Department of Highways, Tunnel Hill, as a supervisor with 35 years of service. He served the community as a firefighter for 35 years with the Nutter Fort Fire Department, was Policeman for the city of Nutter Fort for 10 years, and a lifetime member of the F.O.P. Mountaineer Lodge #78.

 

For many years, he enjoyed showing his 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS in car shows. Buck was a wonderful family man, and he was a generous person who would do anything to help his friends. Above all he loved his grandchildren.
