A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Parish House on the corner of 6th and Main Street, Clarksburg.   A memorial service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church immediately following the gathering at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Anne West presiding.   Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.

C. William Johnson, 87, of Salem, WV, passed away peacefully, on June 20, 2017, at the Genesis Salem Center.

 

He was born in Salem, WV, on February 22, 1930, a son of the late Russell and Florence Doty Johnson.

 

Bill was married on August 27, 1955, to Ann McCamey Johnson, who preceded him in death on April 2, 2014.

 

He is survived by one son, Russell William Johnson of Greensburg, PA; and one daughter, Carol M. Johnson and husband David B. Lang of Bridgeport.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Eileen B. Johnson and two sisters, Marie Goldsmith and Leah Varner.

 

Bill was a Salem High School Alumni and graduated Cum Laude from Salem College with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served our country during the Korean Conflict.

 

He joined Empire National Bank in 1965 as Vice President, was elected to the Board of Directors in 1975, and retired in 1990 as President.  He attended Christ Episcopal Church in Clarksburg. As a Salem native, it was with great pride, he represented the fifth generation on his father’s side from Ten Mile District of Harrison County.

 

A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Parish House on the corner of 6th and Main Street, Clarksburg.   A memorial service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church immediately following the gathering at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Nora Beecker presiding.

 

Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1492, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
