Family and friends may call to the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11:00am at the Freedom Southern Baptist Church, 107 Illinois Ave, Nutter Fort, WV 26301 with Pastors Matt Magnes and Jim Sanders officiating. Bud will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Garden.

Carl James “Bud” McGary, 80, of Nutter Fort, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

 

He was born on September 12, 1939 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late John Burton and Cora Mildred Swiger McGary.

 

Bud is survived by his wife of 53 years, Naomi “Jean” West McGary, whom he married on May 5, 1966.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James “Jimmy” McGary of Nutter Fort, and Carl “Jeff” McGary and wife Melissa of California City, CA; seven grandchildren, Victoria Elisa Adams, Joanna Lynn McGary, Heather Elizabeth Smith, Stormy Dawn Steele, Caleb Jeffrey McGary, Kyla Kristine Watkins, and Fallyn Rene’ Richardson; two great-grandchildren, Cai Jayden McGary, and Dimitri Lee Richardson; two sisters, Marie Balderman, and Wanda Matteson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Bud is preceded in death by three grandchildren, Carl Anthony McGary, Steven Douglas McGary, and Christopher McGary; eight brothers, Donald McGary, Johnnie McGary, Leonard McGary, Kenneth McGary, John McGary, Howard McGary, Ralph McGary, and Harold McGary; and five sisters, Betty Caruthers, Thelma McGary, Virginia Edgell, Loraine Vaughn, and Georgia Edgell.

 

Bud retired as a Custodian from the Harrison County Court House and additionally had 21 years of service with United Tile and Carpet. He was a member of the Freedom Southern Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, building model planes, and crafts.
