Carolina “Carla” Helga Stubbs Gowers, 50, of Martinsburg passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital following a brief battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born in Parkersburg on September 11, 1973, a daughter of the late Cecil and Caroline Helga Basmussen Stubbs.

She is survived by her husband, David Gowers, whom she married in 2019 after many years together.

Also surviving are five children, Damian Joy of Parkersburg, Vanessa Ice of Barrackville, Joshua Gowers of Orlando, FL, Megan Amos and her husband James of Monongah and Eva Gowers of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren, Freya Joy, Philemon Oliver and his wife Markeema, Roseanna Hillard and her husband Timothy, Jayden Gowers, Colton Amos, Eli Amos, Christopher Gowers and Mikeelyn Gowers; two great grandchildren, Paris Oliver, Amir Hillard and two on the way; best friend, Karen Phipps Caicea and her husband Steve and daughter Kristina; and several nieces and nephews in the Clarksburg area.

Carla was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and the Blue Ridge Community Technical College where she earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in accounting and was a United States Army veteran.

Carla was a Jack of all trades and even started her own business, No-Mess Nails by Carla. She had a great sense of humor, was opinionated and authoritative. She loved her pets and enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband.  Most of all, Carla adored her family.  She loved taking care of her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for everyone.

In keeping with her wishes, Carla will be cremated.  A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family at a later date.
