Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 am with Tim Jorgensen officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn Jeanette Rutherford George, 73, of Nutter Fort, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital-WV Caring following an extended illness.

 

She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 8, 1943, the only child of Carl and Bernice “Beck” Fleming Rutherford.

 

She was married to Charles Robert George on April 9, 1965, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2015.

 

Surviving are two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Marvin Keith George and his wife Patty of Maple Lake and Beverly Ann Fleshman of Nutter Fort; four special nieces and nephews, Jason Fleshman and wife Alisha of Fairmont, Jodi Fleshman McQuillan and husband Jason of Clarksburg, Marla George Hull and husband Curtis of Waverly, WV, Marc George of Clarksburg; four great nieces and nephews, Elaina Hull, Nathaniel Hull, Gianna Hull and Joslyn McQuillan; and a number of Fleming and Rutherford cousins. Lastly, she leaves behind her beloved dogs.

 

Carolyn was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School. She was a secretary at Washington Irving High School from 1976 to 1996, when began working as a secretary at Robert C. Byrd High School, having worked for the Harrison County Board of Education for over 27 years and retiring in 2003. She loved each and every student and cherished her time with them at school.  Carol was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
