Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation.   Mrs. Lopez will be taken to the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church to lie in state for one hour prior to the service, which will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am with Father John Kostas as Celebrant.   Interment will be in the Elkview Masonic Cemetery.

Catherine Despina Lopez, 93, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

 

She was born in Clarksburg on October 29, 1923, a daughter of the late Michael and Despina Georgaroudis Alastanos.

 

She was married to Frank J. Lopez, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1997. Surviving are one daughter, Christine Leeson and her husband Hal of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Johnnie Joseph Leeson and Wauneka Lopez Leeson; three brothers, Gus Alastanos and his wife Judy of Nutter Fort, and Angelo Alastanos of Clarksburg; and one sister, Mary D’Onofrio of Baltimore, MD.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, George and Steve Alastanos; and one sister, Evangaline “Anna” Fanady.

 

Mrs. Lopez was retired from Hazel Atlas Glass Company. She also worked at Stonewall Jackson Restaurant, Exclusive Dress Shop, and later worked at Peking Restaurant as a Hostess.  Mrs. Lopez was a member of the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, the Ladies Philpotochos Society, Stonewall Jackson Civic Club, and an active member of the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center.  Catherine enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with her friends.
