Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sherman Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery with Rick Kerns presiding and where full military graveside rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association NCWV, 1299 Pineview Drive, #3, Morgantown, WV 26505.

Charles Alfred Williams, 78, of Stonewood, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at his residence.

He was born in Hall, WV, Upshur County on April 24, 1946, a son of the late Offie D. and Mary Haller Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thorn Williams, whom he married on September 29, 1968.

Also surviving are one son, John Williams and his wife Heather of Mt. Clare; one daughter, Melissa “Missy” Hefner and her husband Gary of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Chad Williams of Nutter Fort, Glen Hefner of North Carolina, Emily Hefner of Alaska and Jacob Hefner of Shepherdstown; four siblings, Denzil Williams of Wheeling, Bill Williams and his wife Teresa of Walkersville, Edith Stanton and her husband Jim of Wheeling and Dessie Hedrick of Wheeling; one sister-in-law, Patricia Thorn of Jacksonville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, John, Herb, Merle and Tom Williams; one sister, Lillian Barker; one brother-in-law, Thurman Hedrick; and five sisters-in-law, Cynthia Thorn, Jon Etta Efaw, Melinda Johnson, Cathie Williams and Jenny Williams.

Mr. Williams was a retired coal miner, having worked at several locations. He was a member of the UMWA District Local 4172 where he served as Treasurer. He was also a member of the Red Line Car Club, the Barbour County Sportsman’s Club and served on the Philippi Town Council.
