Charles David Goldsmith, 86, of Davis, WV, died on Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born in Clarksburg on October 23, 1931, a son of the late James and Virginia Watkins Goldsmith.
He was married to Jean Stackpole Goldsmith, who preceded him in death on October 25, 1994.

 

He is survived by his only child and daughter, Pamela Kovacs and her husband Ken of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Peggy Allman and her husband David of Bridgeport; and 11 nieces and nephews, Jim Goldsmith and his wife Brenda, Stephanie Morrison and her husband Jeff, Eric Goldsmith and his wife Kim, Brian Goldsmith, Mark Norris and his wife Linda, Lori Starkey and her husband Brent, Lisa Fox, Cara Stackpole, Julie Stackpole, Bill Stackpole and Jeff Stackpole.

 

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Goldsmith and Jim Goldsmith Sr.

 

Mr. Goldsmith was a 1949 graduate of Victory High school and received his Bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State College. Prior to attending college, he served in the United States Navy as a Mineman 3rd Class for almost 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Virginia Tech University for almost 30 years, having retired in 1995 as Director of Purchasing.

 

Mr. Goldsmith loved history, relaxing on his deck, woodworking, and watching college football, especially WVU and VA Tech. He also loved the outdoors, camping, and watching wildlife. But his passion was fly fishing. He fished any time he could, mostly the WV streams. He loved fishing so much that he bought a vacation home, retired and moved to Canaan Valley, WV permanently.
He leaves behind many friends in Canaan Valley, Clarksburg, and Blacksburg, VA.

 

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Goldsmith will be cremated.

 

Inurnment will be in the WV National Cemetery on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 12:00 pm.
