Obituaries

Charles Ray “Charlie” Powers, 76, of Clarksburg, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness.  He was born in Marshville on October 27, 1940, a son of the late George L. and Opal May Clevenger Powers.

He is survived by his companion of 41 years, Linda Sue Dodd; four sons, Michael Lynn Powers and his wife Debra of Lumberport, Charles “Chuck” Powers and his wife Barbara of Clarksburg, George Powers of Clarksburg, and John “Homer” Powers and his wife Ashley of Clarksburg; two daughters, Jessica Powers of Clarksburg, and Donna Williams and her husband James of Philippi;  two step-sons, Lonnie Davisson and his wife Diane of Clarksburg, and Brad Davisson of Clarksburg; eight grandchildren, Seth Shook, Kiersten Carpenter, Hannah Powers, Jayden Powers, Hunter Powers, Felisha Powers, Chucky Powers, III and Justin Davisson; one brother, Clifford Powers; three sisters, Geneva Davis and her companion John Dodd, Kathy Miller and her husband Buck, and Sandra Jenkins and her husband Bobby; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Powers; and three sisters, Barbara Showen, Virginia Kesling, and Idamay Earnest.

Mr. Powers was a self-employed construction worker and loved to work on cars.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Tim Sandy officiating.  Interment will be in the Hazelgreen Cemetery.
