Family and friends will be received at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Nazarene, 9254 Cost Avenue in Stonewood with Reverend Richard Settles and Reverend Doug Joseph presiding. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Park Cemetery.

Cora Ellen Nay Exline Irby, age 80, of Stonewood, went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 3, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born December 5, 1935 in Farnun, WV a daughter of the late Lawrence Nay and Rosie Ellen Connolly Yoak.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years James Lee Exline, whom she married July 22, 1950, preceded her in death June 14, 1998. Her second husband, Earle Walter Irby whom she married March 24, 2007, also preceded her in death on October 24, 2015.

 

Surviving are one son, Larry Exline of Stonewood, with whom she made her home; four daughters, Sue Ellen Sprouse and her husband James of Stonewood, Donna Vanscoy and her husband Rubin of Stonewood, Patty Hoskins and her husband Reverend Charles of Bridgeport, and Carol Capicola and her husband Jim of Clarksburg; and one daughter-in-law, Cathy Murphy Exline of Jane Lew. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Polly Skidmore of Stonewood, and Florence Amsler of Anmoore, along with several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and her two husbands, Cora was preceded in death by two sons, Charlie Exline and Richard Exline; brothers and sisters Leonard Yoak, Freeman Yoak, Clarence Yoak, Olive Eakle and Mona Carrico.

 

Cora was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and listening to southern gospel music. Her greatest joys were playing the piano, and teaching Sunday school at the Clarksburg Wesleyan Church. She was a member of the Harrison County Senior Citizens, and the Clarksburg Church of the Nazarene in Stonewood. She also enjoyed attending the Christian Apostolic Church with her daughter.
