John Thompson told me a week ago the sad news of David's passing. David was a close friend at WI and since we both pursued the military and served in the same time period, I felt an even greater kinship to him. He was a guys' guy, always a lot of fun, but very smart and witty. He contributed to the Clarksburg community and the state, the mark of a good citizen. We will miss him greatly. Dave Hardman

We were saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing. I had been in email communication with BR Dave almost daily. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Dave and his family.

Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow felt by the loss of such a loved one. My heart is with you.  As well as this beautiful encouraging promise, John 5:28,29 "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."   Imagine that day when all our dear loved ones are brought back to life through a resurrection and reunited with us again.  What a truly beautiful promise of comfort and hope and how we long for that special day so close at hand.

To the Allen family & our VMI Class of 1971, I was in contact with Dave on almost a daily basis via e-mail for many months. I share in your loss but trust that Dave is in a far better place now watching over us from the Great Parade Ground in the Sky. Rest in Peace, BR! "Bag"

Allen Family, Sorry to hear of your loss. I was but a young pup at highways when David was there, I now have 41 years with them.

Dear John and all who loved David: Amy Robinson Algee texted me this morning with news of David's passing. Last Fall I visited David and we both got sentimental remembering our wonderful childhood growing up in Stealey. We talked about how lucky we were to have our family, friends and Morgan School. I was sad to hear from him he would not be attending our 50th High School Reunion in August. He was missed. We had smiles this morning in a thread of text between Amy, Susan Martin Watson, Cindy Randolph Owens, Nancy Hersman Harvey, Peggy Grimes Semesco and myself. All should be proud of him and his accomplishments. He was quite a guy.

Dear John and Family, I just read this morning\'s paper and learned of David\'s passing. Please accept my heartfelt and deepest sympathy. I have so many fond memories of the Allens and Wilsons over the years. Did you know that David gave me my first kiss. Our parents were at a cocktail party someplace, maybe the Club, and Anne McWhorter and I had been at the playground. David offered to walk me home. Back then we cut through the Prestons backyard to cross over to Waverly Way. Anyway, we had just gotten to the Prestons backyard and stopped for some reason and David kissed me. We were probably 13 and 14 at the time. Just one of many good memories like our families picnics at the Allen Farm on Coburn\'s Creek. I\'ve thought of all of you so many times over the years. David is in some very good company in Heaven. Sincerely, Betsy Wilson Turner
